Web portals
Nowadays web portals are a rich source of a wide range of information on the Internet, containing text, graphics and other multimedia elements. The content of such portals can be constantly updated with the help of appropriate content management tools.
JMC is prepared to offer a holistic package of IT solutions for web portals. The range of our services includes the development of the concept of the web portal and its structure from the point of view of the contained information. Subsequently we can design the navigation system and the graphical user interface. Finally we prepare the information ingredients and carry out the programming of the portal together with a content management system (CMS) to keep the portal up to date.
Among the examples of Internet portals produced by JMC there are the projects for www.pls.pl (a portal for the Polish Professional Volleyball League) or www.rakpiersi.pl (and educational portal about breast cancer).
The PLS portal offers real-time news, including real-time reports from the League's matches, as well as past results, commentaries, and profiles of the teams, players and coaches participating in the League. Also included is a detailed statistical section, which illustrates the achievements of different players in the different areas of the game. All this is complemented by a discussion forum, profiled picture galleries and other interesting solutions. The portal's system contains an automatically updated dictionary of vulgar words, which allows for the exclusion of indecent comments from the portal - there is also an in-built option to exclude the "posting rights" from persons often using vulgar expressions in their comments.
The breast cancer portal aims to spread knowledge about breast cancer, the risks of contracting the disease, methods of its detection as well as information about possible treatment and recovery phases. Beyond a broad informational base the portal offers communication facilities (e.g. chatrooms) for its visitors, educational materials, an address database for other sources of help for breas cancer, and a myriad of other information.
