Development of the concept, architecture and functionalities
of a transaction platform for on-line investments.
Objectives
The objective of the project was to analyse business processes of traditional methods of sales of Kapitał Handlowy investment units and to develop a transaction platform for on-line investments via the Internet. The system should allow to create on-line investment accounts and to execute a broad range of operations on the accounts, which were available until then only in traditional points of sale (i.e. branches of the banks and special brokerage points).
Methods
In order to develop a concept and architecture of the transaction platform the traditional distribution system for investment units was studies together with detailed analysis of procedures and regulations. Discussions with Management Board of the Investment Fund Company of Bank Handlowy, Marketing and Sales Department and IT Department were carried out to better understand objectives of on-line investment and existing IT infrastructure. Then, considering current technological solutions available on the market and newest results of scientific research in secure transactions via the Internet, a concept and architecture of the system were developed. After acceptance of the general concept, architecture and functionalities by the Management Board a detailed consultancy report was prepared.
Result
The consultancy report included detailed description of functionalities of the future transaction platform, procedures of operations of the system for different groups of customers (three groups of private and one of institutional investors) and the required IT infrastructure. The security procedures were determined and technical documentation for National Security and Exchange Commission was prepared to obtain permission for operation of the on-line investment platform via the Internet.
The consultancy report and other documents created a basis for technical project of the transaction platform development and its implementation.
