Corporate portals
Internal corporate portals present an excellent platorm for multi-directional horizontal and vertical communication within the firm, enablig more efficient operation. The portal solves many standard and laborous tasks and simultaneously, when integrated with other IT systems, allows access to key information with just the use of an Internet browser.
Corporate portals are used by a firm's management to communicate important messages, and successively to implement corporate strategy, control the methods of operation of the organisation. Also by raising the level of awareness of particular tasks and by hastening the realisation of given projects corporate porals increase effectiveness and thereby financial results.
A corporate portal may also be useful for the exchange of information among employees, help in some private matters, and thereby can enhance the concentration of workers on their duties towards the firm. Such a portal is also an excellent platform for internal marketing, supporting a consciousness of common interest and the importance of an employee within the firm - and of the firm within the market.
JMC's experience with corporate portal design stems from projects for, among others, Telekomunikacja Polska S.A. and British-American Tobacco Poland. For TP S.A. we designed a few applications for the portal and integrated them with pre-existing IT systems, while for BAT Poland we designed an application for internal communication.
